Living Bread Family,
For nearly sixteen years we have been effectively serving some of the poorest communities in the world through our comprehensive church planting efforts. Our work in Brazil has expanded over the years, and we are now actively working in four states in the country. Our work is focused in the least evangelized and poorest regions in the coun- try. In Thailand we are focusing our efforts on the Phanat Nikhom District in the Chonburi Province in eastern Thailand. We are working to make sure there is a local church established in each one of the 20 subdistricts in Phan- at Nikhom.
This is important work. Many of the communities we are working in would not have a local church if we had not helped establish one. There is not a line of church planters and missionaries waiting to go to the communities where we are focused. In fact, if someone does enter these communities, often they are selling the prosperity gospel. They exploit the people and when they have taken everything they can get, they move on to the next place, leaving the community worse off and skeptical of the Church.
We have spent a decade and half building relationships in struggling communities and establishing local churches that minister to the needs of their neighbors. These churches are led by people from the community and make disciples in the community. Every need that is addressed is done so by the local church, not outsiders. We are proud of our history of coming alongside locals and equipping them to engage their neighbors in a way that is effective and honoring to Christ’s command for all Christians to make disciples.
In the coming years, we have a plan in place to strengthen our existing church plants in Brazil while looking for strategic opportunities to plant additional churches. In Thailand we are ready to significantly ramp up our efforts to plant up to fifteen new churches. Considering that Thailand’s Christian population is around 1%, this is a very ambitious goal!
To achieve these goals, we need your help. As a small non-profit, we depend heavily on larger year-end contributions and smaller, planned monthly donations. Will you consider giving something at the end of this year to help our work? Can you commit to a $25 or $50 monthly donation in 2020 to help us minister to the hurting?
I am very grateful for your prayerful consideration. I pray that you have a blessed end to 2019 and a wonderful 2020. Merry Christmas!
