Down a dirt road that winds through a lush rural area, lives Anan. Her struggles to make a dignified living wage led her to a soap making class hosted by a local LBM church plant in conjunction with Freegrance Products. This class taught women at risk of falling prey to the sex trade how to make natural oil based soaps, as well as instructions on purchasing supplies. Anan enjoyed the class so much she began making her own soaps to sell in the local night market.

On a recent visit to our church plants in Thailand, LBM Founder Barbara Hubbard and I (LBM Communications Director, Aleah Marsden) had the pleasure of meeting this woman. She demonstrated to us her process for producing the soap as well as her finished packaged product. We were thrilled to hear that her entrepreneurial gifts also gained her access to a special government program which effectively makes her local community the natural handmade soap making district of Thailand! It’s incredible what the Lord is able to accomplish in the lives of people who have these latent skills who simply need training and opportunities.
