Please welcome our newest church planter. Pastor Edson and his wife Claudinea are serving in the Planalto community of Porto Alegre, Brazil. They are from the state of Rio de Janeiro and have been married since August 1990. Pastor Edson was ordained in 2013 at Second Baptist Church in São Pedro da Aldeia in Rio de Janeiro and served as an Assistant Pastor at Third Baptist Church in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. This church was established through Pastor Magioli, who leads our work in Brazil, when he was a church planter in Rio.
Pastor Edson and Claudinea have been serving in Planalto since November 2023. The church plant went through a challenging period when the original church planter needed to step away from the ministry. In the time they have been serving in Planalto, the work has stabilized, and they are now working to grow the church. You can join us in praying for their goals to grow the active membership to 30 by the end of 2024, finish organizing the church with the proper ministry leaders in place, and purchase land for the construction of their own building. We have a Brazilian ministry that has already built multiple church buildings for us that is committed to providing a building for this community if we can secure the land.
