There are not many Christians in Thailand. Only 1.6% of the population is Christian and about 0.65% is considered Evangelical. Conversions are few and far between, and baptism is costly. Often converts who are baptized are ostracized from their family and friends. This is why we have been amazed at what the Lord is doing in Thailand. Pastor Somchai, who leads our church planting partnership, has baptized nearly 20 people since November 2020.
Many of these new believers are the result of the church’s work during the COVID pandemic. They were intentional about meeting basic needs and building relationships. They have been delivering food, clean water, and masks regularly. They also addressed other basic health needs. They met outdoors regularly for prayer and equipping the disciples. The fruit of their efforts has been amazing. We are grateful for what the Lord is doing and pray that He will continue to bless.
Of the nearly 20 baptisms, Pastor Somchai was blessed to baptize his daughter Shalom (pictured below). We are excited for him, Aun, and their family. We are currently seeking leaders to begin two additional church plants. Please ask the Lord to bring us the right people.
