This time of year is always a season of planning. As we are beginning looking toward the end of the year and the launching of another year of comprehensive church planting among the global poor, our attention begins to shift to what projects we will undertake in the new year. This year, however, we are taking a little different approach with our work in Brazil. We have been talking with Pastor Magioli and the leadership team in Brazil over the past few weeks and planning our agenda for 2020.
In the new year, we are launching an enhanced focus on our existing church plants in Brazil. We are in the process of securing a permanent building from the church in CapĆ£o da Canoa. This alone will help ensure that the church is firmly established for the future. This is our goal for next year, to more firmly establish all of our existing Brazilian churches for the future.
Church planting in communities that have been ravaged by poverty is a long-term process. We have churches in Brazil that are completely self-sustaining, and we want to focus on moving our existing projects closer to this goal in 2020 instead of investing our time and funding on planting new churches. We have churches in many stages of maturity, some just started this year and some several years old, so this effort will look different in each location.
Will you pray for us as we spend the next year investing in our existing churches in Brazil?
In Thailand, 2020 will prayerfully see the beginning of more church plants in the Phanat Nakom area where we would like to see each subdistrict with their own church body. We are so thankful for the vision the Lord has given Pastor Somchai for these communities, and we look forward to continuing to work with him to reach Phanat Nakom with the Gospel.
