It’s that time of year again! As we head back to school and welcome fall, we are also gearing up for our Share Christmas outreach in Thailand and Brazil.
If you aren’t familiar with Share Christmas, it’s a great example of how Living Bread intentionally seeks to combine practical service and meeting needs with evangelism and presenting the truth of the gospel. Through Share Christmas, we provide school and hygiene supplies to the children and young people of our church plants and their communities. This allows them to be set up for greater chance of success in school and in the long term ultimately break the cycle of poverty. The gifts are distributed at a special Christmas service where the children and their families are fed a meal and presented with the gospel.
Each fall, we partner with individuals, churches, and groups to raise money to provide as many school supply and hygiene kits as possible to the children from our church plants. The supplies are purchased in country so we can avoid shipping costs and support the local economies. We are intentionally addressing tangible needs in a way that supports local communities with a long-term goal of helping individuals and families be more equipped to leave the situation of poverty where they find themselves.
