When Patrick and Barbara Hubbard began to walk with the Lord, entering into a saving faith on the same day at a funeral in 1999, they could not have envisioned the plans that the He would bring to pass in the coming years. Living Bread Ministries wasn’t even on the radar.
The Lord used a funeral to reach Patrick & Barbara. He used Twitter to bring me to this team.https://t.co/jKx9eDt9MY pic.twitter.com/wAB9FBmhNg

And yet, they responded with obedience to the loving call of the Father. Opening their hearts and lives to follow wherever He may lead.
Last summer as I tuned-in to every game of the Women’s World Cup, logging into Twitter to tweet my excited comments, I could never have envisioned where a tweet could take me. It was through tweeting about the tournament that Patrick, another avid fan, and I first began chatting. Soccer talk turned to ministry comments when Patrick mentioned possibly missing a key match because he would be in Thailand. Intrigued by their ministry model, I began emailing with Barbara and Patrick to learn more. This led to a video chat with the two of them to hear the story of all the Lord has done to establish Living Bread Ministries.
Somehow, in the Lord’s intermingled humor and sovereignty, He used these interactions to build a relationship and extend an invitation to join the team as the resident storyteller.
In the upcoming months I’ll be sharing the story of the Hubbard’s journey over more than a decade of running LBM. I hope this series proves valuable to supporters, as well as anyone looking to partner with this amazing ministry. In June I’ll be joining Barbara for a trip to Porto Alegre, Brazil to gather stories firsthand of the work the Lord is doing among the poor through the local church.
The Lord used a funeral to reach Patrick and Barbara. He used Twitter to bring me to this team. What if He uses a blog series to help you reach the global poor with the gospel? We’re so grateful for your support.
